In our third collaboration with Franco Dragone, Apeiro Design provided design and consulting services for the Taihu Show Theatre, a purpose-built venue for Dragone’s Splendor with show production by Five Currents.

A high-resolution LED video screen surrounds the audience chamber, floating above the seating area and joining the stage to form a large portal. Four, 14-meter high door segments travel independently to reveal the portal throughout the course of the performance.

The heart of the production is a 16-meter diameter lift that raises, rotates, tilts and has an integral reflective water effect.

Video and LED projection allows for complex mapping of virtual scenery and visual effects. 12 high-power laser projectors, over 2,300 square meters of high-resolution LED video wall, mapping cameras and tracking devices create scenery that magically appears as images are created by the sophisticated media servers. The sound system utilizes the latest DSP technology to control 80 distributed loudspeakers allowing voices, music and effects to be discretely mixed to any location. Meticulously designed theatrical lighting and performer flying and scenic elements create a breathtaking experience.
