Located in Hayes Valley, the SFJAZZ Center is a three-story building of glass, steel and concrete with lobbies visible from the street. Apeiro Design (formerly Auerbach Pollock Friedlander) began work providing theatre and audio-video consulting for the study and design of the Robert N. Miner Auditorium, ensemble room, digital learning lab, practice rooms, offices, retail store and café.

The Robert N. Miner Auditorium can be arranged in up to eight configurations from 350 to 700 seats. The hall was designed with steeply raked seating resulting in a space that feels like a New York jazz club.

The multi-purpose Joe Henderson Lab is directly off the lower lobby at street level, with glass walls on two corners emphasizing a connection to the surrounding area. It supports rehearsals and intimate performances.
