Technical Designer – AV and Broadcast

Remote | San Francisco (West Coast)
Full-Time | $65,000–$75,000/year

We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented Technical Designer to join our consulting team and help design sophisticated technology systems for extraordinary spaces and venues worldwide.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree (required)
  • Experience in AV systems design, broadcast engineering or AV production
  • Background in live performance, broadcast or IT networking
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for supporting artists, technicians and creative teams
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Reside in the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone (U.S. West Coast)

Preferred:

  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-D certification
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking credentials
  • Experience with immersive or interactive AV environments
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and construction documentation
  • Touring, theatrical production or live events experience

What You’ll Do:

As a Technical Designer, you’ll help plan and document complex AV and broadcast systems for performance and presentation spaces:

  • Develop detailed system drawings, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations and equipment lists (AutoCAD/Revit)
  • Design and coordinate audio, video, broadcast, control, intercom and IT infrastructure
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers and consultants to ensure integration with building systems
  • Assist with bid documents, submittal reviews and construction administration
  • Support occasional fieldwork (system verification, tuning—not day-to-day installation)
  • Share knowledge and stay current on emerging AV technologies and trends

Tools & Technologies:

You may work with:

  • Audio: Digital consoles, DSPs (Q-SYS, Biamp), Dante, AES67, performance sound reinforcement and distribution
  • Video: Projection systems, large format LED, cameras, SMPTE-2110, IPMX, NDI
  • Control Systems: Q-SYS, Medialon
  • Networking: VLANs, PoE, IT/AV convergence, Cisco-based systems
  • Broadcast: Video routing, switching and CG (Evertz, Grass Valley, Ross) signal management
  • Intercom: Riedel, Clear-Com, RTS
  • Software Tools: AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, EASE, SMAART, DANTE Controller, Q-SYS Designer

Bonus Qualifications:

  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-D certification

Technical/Architectural Lighting Designer

Hybrid | San Francisco
0 – 3 Years’ Experience | $29.00 – $35.00 per hour

We are seeking an entry-level technical designer with a degree or relevant experience in architectural lighting to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have technical experience in architectural lighting, have a highly collaborative work style and be able to work harmoniously in a creative open-studio environment.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in Bluebeam, CAD and REVIT
  • A plus to know 3D AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp
  • Proficiency in standard Microsoft and Adobe suites
  • Experience working in a design studio
  • A degree in higher education in a relevant field or industry
