Driving the project was a clear artistic mission to add a more intimate, flexible space to the campus with the goal of opening up performances for a new range of artists and increasing community outreach.

Continuing a 15-year relationship with BAM, the firm provided led the development of the 3,700 sq. ft. flexible Fishman Space and Scripps Stage and the 1,600 sq. ft. BAM Fisher Hillman Studio along with associated performer, technical and performer support spaces.

The Fisher Space seats up to 250 in a variety of arrangements. The Studio seats up to 12, supporting the main venue for rehearsals and the development of new work. The space will also be used by the education department, humanities department and community groups. The Studio features large windows with views to Downtown Brooklyn. Blackout shades are employed during performances as needed.

A theatre workshop, dressing rooms, a roof terrace with event space, a two-story lobby, offices and administrative support space complete the Fisher Building.
