Apeiro Design (Auerbach Pollock Friedlander and Auerbach Glasow) played a major role in the design of the auditorium and public spaces including the configuration of the seating within the hall and the design of the highly advanced theatrical lighting systems. In the public spaces, Apeiro Design designed 20 interior and six exterior custom lighting fixture types – a total of 1,300 custom fixtures were installed as part of this new complex – the custom lighting fixtures were only part of the architectural lighting requirements for the 1.4 million square foot Conference Center. The team worked hard to create a comfortable space with apparent intimacy considering the scale of the hall. The criteria from the beginning of the design process was to have each member of the audience see the speaker and hear the words as if the speaker was addressing him/her personally. This resulted in a seating layout which has the audience configured around a single focal point, and “Image Magnification” (IMAG) which can be deployed or retracted depending on the situation.
