Apeiro Design was asked to join the design team specifically to solve the technical challenges, maintain design integrity and present a compelling design to the School, City and for public review.

To orient the City to pool lighting principles, Apeiro Design conducted studies of local swimming pools and evaluated the success of the various lighting designs. None of the precedent pools met industry lighting recommendations for Class III competitive swimming facilities. The studies were informative in a way that allowed Apeiro Design to present a new type of lighting design which addressed all the lighting requirements as well as the aesthetic preferences of the design team and school.

The lighting utilizes narrow beam, adjustable floodlights with glare control micro-louvers. Pole heights are maximized, but no higher than the neighboring buildings so visual impact is minimized. Aiming diagrams were created for each light, and on-site adjustments ensured compliance will all industry and City requirements. The Aquatic Center is tremendously successful and is enjoyed by the students and community alike.
