As part of their long term planning, the Conservatory engaged Architectural Resources Group to develop a master plan for their neighboring properties – the site of a former church, mortuary, chapel and Sunday school building.

Phase 1 of the master plan included the adaptive reuse and conversion of the chapel building, originally built in 1929, into a 110-seat, ADA compliant recital hall. Previously broken up into a two-floor suite of administrative offices, the interstitial floor was removed revealing the original architectural details and natural acoustics of the historic chapel space. Sound reinforcement, broadcast and archival recording and multi-media capabilities were incorporated in a room design that compliments the historic details of the original structure. Apeiro Design (formerly Auerbach Pollock Friedlander) provided theatre and audio-video consulting for the project, now called Barrett Hall. The firm also provided planning services for future rehearsal and classroom facilities.
