San Francisco Museum of Modern Art - Rooftop Garden
As part of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s expansion, Apeiro Design (formerly Auerbach Pollock Friedlander) provided audio-video and performance communications consulting for the sculpture garden and open-air gallery.
The Sculpture Garden is situated above the Museum’s parking garage behind the main building, creating tranquility in the middle of the city. The enclosed Pavilion’s sliding doors open to the gardens on days when the weather permits.
The system blends seamlessly with the architecture with two large projection screens and a high-output, HD video projector concealed in the architectural ceiling when not in use. A wireless touch-panel controls the position of both screens, the projector lift and the sound system from any location within the gallery. Wired connections for event and performance power, audio, video, and communications are provided in floor boxes with custom brushed stainless steel finish to complement the gallery finishes.
The system also includes custom portable loudspeakers with visual lines and finish consistent with the gallery architecture, providing natural sound quality for voice and light amplified music. Automatic audio mixing and touch-panel control is provided for simple presentation events. A portable mixing console and stage box connecting to the hardwired system provide a rapid-setup, high-performance, integrated sound system with a minimum of visual impact for larger events.
