The Pavilion is the Sun Valley Symphony’s summer home and hosts popular music events. To accommodate a broad range of artists, its concert ceiling provides acoustic shaping for classical music, and the infrastructure required for popular amplified acts. Curved wood reflectors provide acoustic support, the appropriate visual aesthetic and accommodations for symphony concert lighting in an elegant and integrated design. A key element in the design was the understanding that the venue would be warehoused in winter.

Apeiro Design (formerly Auerbach Pollock Friedlander and Auerbach Glasow) refined the seating plan, improving sightlines and audience access and developed the sophisticated concert ceiling design, its self-climbing hoists, lighting systems, and acoustic reflectors, all of which had to be demountable. Curved metal trusses, form the skeleton of the acoustic ceiling, complementing the permanent steel roof. The ceiling also includes hanging points accommodating lighting rigs for popular entertainment without changing the Pavilion’s permanent installation.
