Revived by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati through generous philanthropic support, the theatre has transformed into the nation’s leading venue for children’s theatre. Working with GBBN as lead architect and Terrex Development & Construction, Apeiro Design integrated advanced performance technologies while preserving the theatre’s architectural heritage. Our scope includes a new automated rigging system, a stage lift with dual turntables, and immersive video mapping systems that extends performances into the audience.

As architectural lighting designers, Apeiro Design honored the theatre’s electric lighting legacy by upgrading the historic decorative light fixtures with energy-efficient LEDs and adding discreet downlighting and aisle lighting to maintain the original glow while meeting modern standards. Extensive testing of “historic” LED A-lamps and dimming systems ensured smooth, theatrical dimming performance.

The result is a world-class performance space that marries innovation with historic integrity, positioning The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati as a national leader in youth arts experiences.
