Vancouver International Airport - International Terminal Building
The Vancouver Airport’s International Terminal Building is a 750,000 square foot expansion to the existing terminal, featuring high ceilings, glazed walls, elevated walkways and large skylights allowing panoramic views of Vancouver and the mountains.
The firm’s mandate was to design lighting that would play a principal role in the structural look and feel of the building while adding a strong visual element to the interior design of the space. At the same time, energy efficiency, low maintenance and long term operating costs were vital concerns.
The lighting structures throughout the building are designed to play off the architect’s vision of British Columbian themes. The project features many open spaces with a number of two or three-story areas. The lighting supports the architectural scheme by creating a sense of grandeur that makes the airport a place to remember and leaves passengers with a positive first impression of Vancouver.
